New Scottish referendum poll: 67% say no to England but yes to Westeros

As the referendum gets closer a new poll has revealed a surprise swing in voter intention. A poll carried out for the Evening Harold by ICM shows that 67% of Scots are intending to vote for independence from England but would welcome joining Westeros as Eighth Kingdom.

“Scotland is small,” said one voter who was polled. “Once independent we will need allies and trade. It would also be nice to wear cloaks in the winter and not be laughed at.”

“The leaders in Westeros are violent, some are incestuous,” said another. “Many revel in their own corruption and greed. And I doubt that any of them have ever had a conversation with a poor person in their lives.”

“So it’ll be nice to deal with politicians who are less posh and back-stabby than the Coalition government.”

When asked if they weren’t fearful of dragons, and strange murderous creatures invading Scotland from the wild north of Westeros a full one hundred per cent of those polled said that they weren’t concerned.

One summed up the feelings of many by answering:

“A big flappy lizard is nothing when you’ve had wars, the Highland Clearances, and Mel Gibson’s accent. What can a dragon do to Scotland that would be more harmful than the generations of Tories we’ve already endured?”
