Entire family of migrants found hidden in box of Tesco bananas

bananasElderly shop assistant Elsie Duggan had the shock of her life yesterday when she discovered a family of illegal migrants hidden in a crate of bananas.

“Oooh it was horrible,” she said, still trembling at the memory. “Almost as soon as I ripped open the case, they started to force their way out and scattered to all corners. There were loads of them. I’m amazed that they could move so fast after being cooped up in there so long. There were arms and legs everywhere!”

Mrs Duggan said she was almost certain the migrants were from Africa, “They were black and although we have black people in Harold, most of ‘em don’t usually hide in imported fruit boxes,” she said, innocently stepping on the fringes of race sensitivity.

“I’m pretty certain they were illegal too,” she added, “as none of the buggers seemed to have passports.”

Police were called to the Tesco store, but there was no sign of the invaders. Later, WPC Anita Flegg commented “We have been unable to trace how these migrants arranged their passage to the UK, but suspect everything is arranged via the web.”
