Andy Murray: “I can be just as miserable playing for an independent Scotland”

“Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth…”

After declining to give an opinion on the referendum Andy Murray has finally acknowledged that if Scotland becomes independent then he will be just as gloomy playing tennis wearing a Saltire as he ever has been wearing a Union Flag.

“Ever since I started travelling to tournaments when I was 11 years old, I’ve always been surly and uncommunicative under Great Britain. That’s normal to me,” Murray said. “If Scotland becomes independent, then I imagine I would start bellowing expletives and screaming at the sky for Scotland.”

By playing for Scotland Murray, the most successful British tennis player since Fred Perry, would reduce England’s international standings in the sport to being just slightly below that of the Solomon Islands, However all might not be lost for England as rumours that Alex Salmond would happily swap Murray for a viable economic plan remaining persistent but unconfirmed.
