He was just supposed to sell yoghurt

Local ad-woman Meya Begum has admitted that her agency created the character Boris Johnson simply to sell yoghurt.

“Boris was supposed to appeal to kids, very much in the same vein as the Honey Monster,” she explained. “But it got really out of hand. Sorry.”

Boris, with his wacky hair and outspoken boorishness, was intended to be seen going on a series of crazy 30-second adventures in pursuit of some sugar-laden strawberry flavoured goo in the ad breaks of popular shows. Instead he quickly went viral and ended up becoming Mayor of London.

“We’ve never had this problem before,” Begum said. “Well, for a short while it looked like our Nick Clegg creation was going to be uncontrollably popular too however people quickly forgot all about him.”
