Owen Smith lagging badly in the key ‘Owen Smith’ demographic

Jeremy Corbyn comes out as the preferred Labour leader even among people named ‘Owen Smith’, according to a new poll.

The Dunstable University poll showed Corbyn with a 20 point lead over Smith among Labour Party members generally, and a similar lead among Labour members whose last name is ‘Smith’. But it was a surprise to find out even the ‘Owen Smith’ demographic overwhelmingly supports Corbyn, according to Professor Brian Rodgers.

“There are 23 Labour Party members named Owen Smith, and 22 of them support Jeremy Corbyn” said Professor Rodgers. “The feedback is they don’t want to see the ‘Owen Smith’ name further tarnished by a man with such impeccably high double standards that he sees no contradiction in being big pharma PR mouthpiece one minute, and self-proclaimed lover of the NHS the next.”

“Even the one Owen Smith who supported Owen Smith wasn’t that enthusiastic, grumbling something about the things you have to do keep the Blairs happy” said Professor Rodgers.

Professor Rodgers said interest in Owen’s Smith’s campaign is so low, the only way Mr Smith would get a brick through his electorate window is if he threw it himself.

“You could say Owen Smith’s whole leadership campaign’s a bit of a Pfizer” laughed the professor.
