Blacked up Morris Dancers apologise for having photo taken with offensive person

IMG_0260.JPG Embarrassing, misjudged, and totally unacceptable. These are just some of the words some blacked-up Morris dancers have used to explain having their picture with someone most people in society find detestable, David Cameron.

One of the Banbury based dancers told us: “We know Morris Dancing has a bad name, and blacking up probably won’t endear us to the public, but there is no excuse for us being seen with the a man whose attitudes are stuck in the 1930s.”

“We would like to apologise for any offence caused by having our picture taken with him, and hope we can be forgiven.”

David Cameron responded saying he was surprised by the reaction.

“Who’d have thought that anyone could have their picture taken with Morris Dancers that have blacked up and yet still be the one people find offensive. I am almost proud of myself.”
