‘Honour killings’ – perhaps try grounding daughters rather than stoning them to death

Honour killingAfter the recent ‘honour killing’ of a woman outside a Lahore Courtroom, fathers of disobedient daughters are being urged to consider grounding them or confiscating their phones for a week as an alternative to stoning them to death.

“If your daughter wilfully attempts to marry someone of her own choosing, ‘honour grounding’ or ‘honour iPhone confiscation’ may work just as well as more traditional punishments” said a Pakistani Justice Department official.

Amnesty International says another option is to simply ‘LET YOUR DAUGHTER MARRY WHOEVER THE HELL SHE WANTS TO’.

“If you don’t like her choice of groom, just take the piss out of him in a drunken speech at the wedding reception, or buy him a Primark shirt for his birthday” said the Amnesty spokesman.

“Just remember not to f***ing stone your daughter to death.”

  2. And the struggle between the proud horribleness of traditional culture and the slimy ickiness of cultural imperialism continues. Do we interfere and tell our “lessers” they don’t know as much as we do or do we respect their rights to stone girls?
