Thirty-two years since they were told to leave the BBC Micro and get back to studying their Kathy & Mark books former pupils of Harold’s St Mary’s Primary School are suing it for not letting them complete the educational game Granny’s Garden.
“The damage has been huge,” said Rebecca Shaw, now aged 38. “We got as far as the dragons and having to work out which one to befriend and then Miss said we had to stop. Which dragon would’ve been our friend? The not knowing has ruined my life.”
“It’s because we were Squirrels,” Rebecca’s former classmate Philip Perkins told us. “Squirrel table was the duffer group, Miss never let us do anything fun. The sodding Badgers got to complete Granny’s Garden twice and paint a big picture of the magic tree puzzle for display. If we’d been allowed to finish the game we could’ve gone on to thrive and achieve.”
“The whole thing was handled badly at the time,” Rebecca Shaw added. “The school are claiming we have no case because we were allowed to finish a different game and refuse to acknowledge how there’s no comparison. We may be Squirrels but even we know that Flowers of Crystal was shit.”
