Ken Livingstone, chair of Labour’s defence review, says not apologising to Kevan Jones for a mental health slur “until he apologises to me”, is an exemplar of Labour’s new direction on defence policy.
“My whole life models how the country should be run.” explained the former London Mayor and enthusiastic tax-payer.
“Rather like Jesus, but for the less gullible. An eye for an eye, or is that the jews?”
Livingstone had said that Jones – who suffered with depression – needed ‘psychiatric help’. “I didn’t know he’d had depression when I said it. How could I tell? Like that Scope charity-box shaker last week, I wouldn’t have said ‘hold it still, you spastic’ if I’d known she had cerebral palsy.”
Mr Livingstone says if Jones withdraws his criticism, “…then I’ll go for a drink with him.” adding “Oh, don’t tell me he’s a bloody alcoholic.”
